Each year at our Harvest Festival, we usually bring foodstuffs to church which are then given to those in need. However this year, the Vineyard Community, the usual recipients of our donations, have told us they have adequate provisions but are in need of a new van to distribute supplies.
They write
"We are very thankful for all the food donations which we receive on a regular basis from individuals, churches, schools and businesses. During the lockdown period, we have been able to respond to the urgent needs for food and delivered parcels to the door steps of individuals and families. In July and August we provided 8,560kg of food (28,722kgs in the last 12 months).
"As the Harvest Feast is approaching and we are usually blessed with donations during this period, we are kindly asking you to refrain from the donations of food and rather make a financial donation as we urgently need to buy a new van. Our old van cannot cope with the load and the amount of deliveries to people's homes any more.
"We would appreciate a contribution towards the costs of a new VW transporter Food Bank van.
"We regularly review the stock of food and we shall ask our supporters for food donations once we are running low of food supply (particularly of specific items) in due cause. Many thanks for your support to help us meet the demand."
