Landlords Wanted to Support Afghan Refugee Resettlement

Richmond Council have now fully signed up to resettle Afghan families under the ARAP scheme, and Refugees Welcome in Richmond will be working to support them. BUT: a family can only be resettled here if there is a home available for them to live in, so we are urgently looking for private-let properties anywhere in the Borough.

Do you know anyone with an empty granny flat or other self-contained property, who might be prepared to rent it to an Afghan family?

Standard two to five-year AST tenancy agreements are used, with rent paid direct to the landlord by government at local housing allowance rates (see LBRUT website). A dedicated resettlement team offers all necessary support to refugee families so the landlord has no obligations beyond the usual towards their tenants.

If you think you can help or would like more information about the Council’s Refugee Lettings Package please contact our housing officer Simone Webster at refugeeswelcomeinrichmond@gmail.com / 07710 124648 or click here.
